Unmet Health Care Needs and Attitudes towards Health Care System in Korea

Abstract
The objectives of this study was to investigate unmet needs for health care and to explore attitudes towards health care system and association with unmet needs. Data from the Korea Health Panel Survey using nationally representative sample was analyzed.. To identify factors associated with unmet needs and attitudes towards health care system multivariate logistic regression analyses using balanced panel data from 2011 through 2013 were employed. Respondents who experienced unmet needs for health care increased from 14.89% in 2011 to 17.64% in 2013. Those with disadvantaged socioeconomic status were more likely to experience unmet needs were and there was significant association between experiences of unmet needs and less supportive attitudes towards health care system. Findings suggest unmet health needs may be useful to investigate responsiveness of health care system.
